After multiple lines of precipitation moved through Talladega, Alabama on Sunday, NASCAR has officially decided to postpone the running of the NASCAR Cup Series YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway to Monday, October 4th.
Coverage of the series’ middle race in the ‘Round of 12’ will begin at 12:00 pm CT / 1:00 pm ET on NBCSN, with radio broadcasts happening on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Ch. 90).
Shortly before 4:00 pm ET, NASCAR sent drivers to their cars and fired the engines, in hopes of completing the 94 laps needed in order to make this an official event. However, rain showers continued to plague portions of the 2.66-mile superspeedway throughout the afternoon, forcing the postponement of the event before the cars could even make a lap.
How is the Weather Looking for Monday?
The National Weather Service forecasts a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Monday, mainly before 10 am, and likely to return after 1 pm, with rainfall amounts totaling between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
