After a huge weekend schedule shuffle on Friday, NASCAR has ultimately decided to postpone their racing in Atlanta Motor Speedway that was scheduled to take place this weekend, and next weekend’s events at Homestead-Miami Speedway. NASCAR made the announcement via a statement.

“NASCAR has decided to postpone the race events at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend and Homestead-Miami Speedway next weekend. We believe this decision is in the best interest of the safety and well-being of our fans, competitors, officials and everyone associated with our sport. We will continue to monitor this dynamic situation as we assess future race events.”

This decision comes as news of the President of the United States Donald Trump plans to declare a national emergency for the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

The NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, Xfinity Series and Cup Series will not race this weekend.

NASCAR had originally planned to run this weekend’s races with no fans in the stands, as the Miami-Dad Mayor banned large outdoor gatherings in Homestead for next weekend’s race. But ultimately, the threat of the Coronavirus became to great for the show to go on.
