You never want to see a driver removed from the car due to injuries or illness, and for Front Row Motorsports’ Michael McDowell that looks to be what is happening Friday morning at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The 34-year old driver, was experiencing abdominal pain and after visiting the CMS infield care center on Friday morning, has been transferred to a hospital for further evaluation.

Austin Cindric, who drives the No. 22 for Team Penske in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and has won two road course races this season, will step into McDowell’s seat while the Arizona native tries to get better.

If McDowell is unable to race this weekend, Cindric should be the driver of the No. 34 car.
