2020 has been a year marred by all sorts of strange events. The Coronavirus pandemic has obviously been at the forefront, but a man from Darlington, South Carolina has added another chapter to the oddity that is this year.

According to WPDE.com (ABC 15 News), Michael Donavan Alvin, 46, is in police custody after leaving a threatening voice message to Darlington Raceway, which is scheduled to host the first NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday since the COVID-19 outbreak.

Apparently, Alvin had also claimed in a written letter that he had access to 125-tons of bomb-making materials according to warrants.

According to the report, Alvin has been booked into the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center on the charge of possession, threatened or attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction for an act of terrorism, not resulting in death.

Alvin is now awaiting a bond hearing.

Luckily, Alvin’s intentions were known before he was able to execute his plan.
