As Kevin Harvick rolls into Atlanta Motor Speedway for the July 9th NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State 400, it will mark the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion’s final start at the track where he scored his first-career NASCAR Cup Series victory.

His iconic win by 0.006 sec. in a photo finish with Jeff Gordon, which came in Harvick’s third-career start, which was also the third race after the racing world lost the legendary Dale Earnhardt in a last-lap crash in the season-opening Daytona 500. Harvick was called up as the replacement for Earnhardt in a renumbered No. 29 entry.

Now, that No. 29 car from that emotional day in Atlanta during the trying 2001 season, will make another appearance at the 1.54-mile oval in Hampton, Georgia. On Wednesday, Atlanta Motor Speedway and Richard Childress Racing announced that the car would be pulled out from the RCR Museum and will make some laps around the track in front of the field prior to the green flag in the Quaker State 400.

Childress, who fielded cars for Harvick in the NASCAR Cup Series from 2001 to 2013, states the decision to bring the car back to the track was made to honor Harvick’s illustrious career.

“Kevin Harvick meant so much to RCR over the years and we want to congratulate him on a successful career in NASCAR,” said Richard Childress, Chairman and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “The No. 29 Chevrolet has a home at the RCR Museum in Welcome, North Carolina, but we know that this Chevy has history at Atlanta Motor Speedway and we’re looking forward to bringing it out to the track so that fans can see this historic car take one more lap around the track.”

Atlanta Motor Speedway, likewise, is excited to celebrate the career of Harvick.

“As we celebrate NASCAR’s 75th anniversary and the rich history our speedway has within this sport, it only makes sense to recognize the accomplishments of a legend as he gets ready to retire,” said AMS Executive Vice President and General Manager Brandon Hutchison. “Kevin Harvick is a champion who’s won just about everything you can in a stock car, including three races right here in Atlanta. Seeing the car from his first win back here one more time for his last race at AMS will be an unforgettable moment for both Harvick and his fans.”

To go along with Harvick’s last start at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and the iconic No. 29 car being back on track, the speedway has created a new ticket package for fans for the Quaker State 400 called the Kevin Harvick Ticket Package. The $65 package includes a ticket to Sunday night’s NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State 400, access to an exclusive question and answer session with Harvick and it will include a donation to the Kevin Harvick Foundation.

Additionally, a pre-race pass, which includes access to Harvick’s 2001 race-winning car plus stage-front access to driver introductions and Andy Grammer’s pre-race concert are also available for $75 for adults and $35 for children 12 and under.

Tickets can be purchased at Atlanta Motor Speedway’s website or by calling the track at 1-877-9-AMS-TIX.
