Joey Logano was up front when it mattered most in a wild and chaotic Fan Shield 500 at Phoenix Raceway. In all, Logano led 60 laps on the day, but he had to hold off a hard-charging Kevin Harvick on a few late restarts to hang on for his second win of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season.
Logano, has matched his win total from the entire 2019 season, and he becomes the first driver to win two races this year.
Harvick won Stage 1 of the race, but was just lacking a little bit of extra speed to push him past the competition down the stretch on Sunday. Harvick was hoping to capture his 10th win at the track in Arizona.
Kyle Busch finished a quiet third, while Kyle Larson and Clint Bowyer rounded out the top-five finishers on the day.
Kurt Busch finished sixth, while the dominant car of the day, which belonged to Chase Elliott, finished seventh after leading 94 laps, but having to rebound from a lap down after pitting with a loose wheel in Stage 2.
Aric Almirola, Cole Custer and William Byron capped off the top-10 finishers.
Brad Keselowski, who was involved in a lap 60 crash with Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney, rebounded to lead 82 laps, won Stage 2 and finished 11th.
Blaney, the point leader coming into the day did not fare as lucky after the incident. Blaney suffered too much damage to continue and finished the day 37th.
Rookie Tyler Reddick had an incredible run going, and was as high as second during the race, but a cut tire on lap 265 ended his day. Reddick was relegated to a 33rd-place finish.
This race was a huge on-track improvement with the new shorter spoiler package that NASCAR brought out this weekend (will be featured on all tracks shorter than 1.5-miles in 2020).
Phoenix, of course, will host the NASCAR Cup Series championship race this season.
