UPDATE: Hendrick Motorsports has given the following statement to TobyChristie.com about the hauler fire on the No. 24

While parked across the street from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Thursday, Hendrick Motorsports’ No. 24 hauler – carrying William Byron’s No. 24 Acronis Chevrolet Camaro – has caught on fire, according to multiple reports from the track.

The fire seems to have started from the hauler’s generator while sitting across the street from the Speedway, where the NASCAR Cup Series will compete in Sunday’s Verizon 200 at Indy’s Road Course.

According to FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass, who captured photos and videos of the damage to the hauler, Byron’s No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro for this weekend has been unloaded from the hauler and appears to be damage-free.

Although not usually permitted, NASCAR has allowed Hendrick Motorsports to unload the car from the hauler and place it in the garage on Thursday, prior to the garage opening on Friday.

If additional updates are provided, they will be added to this story as an update. TobyChristie.com has reached out to Hendrick Motorsports for further details on the incident.
