Following a Goodyear Tire Test at Iowa Speedway, which was conducted between June 3 and 4, Goodyear will bring brand-new left side and right side tire compounds for NASCAR Cup Series teams for this weekend’s Iowa Corn 350 Powered by Ethanol.

Goodyear used data that it pulled from the test, which had representatives from all three NASCAR Cup Series OEM manufacturers, including Kyle Busch (No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet), Austin Cindric (No. 2 Team Penske Ford), and Chase Briscoe (No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota), to come up with the new tire compounds for this weekend’s race.

Goodyear confirmed that it will bring a new tire compound to Iowa Speedway for the NASCAR Cup Series in a weekly media release.

“Iowa presents a unique challenge with the speeds and sustained loads, as well as the two different ages of asphalt on the surface,” said Rick Heinrich, Goodyear NASCAR product manager. “The new race recommendation of Goodyear Racing Eagle tires for the Cup Series is ready for that challenge, as shown during the June test.”

The left-side Goodyear Racing Eagles used by NASCAR Cup Series teams will have the tire code D-5244, while the right-side tires will have the tire code D-5266.

Teams will have 11 sets of dry-weather tires in their weekend allotment. Nine sets of sticker tires will be available for Sunday’s race, while one set will be scuffed during qualifying and can be used in Sunday’s race, and one set will be used in practice. There will also be four sets of wet-weather tires available for teams this weekend, if needed.

The NASCAR Cup Series Iowa Corn 350 Powered by Ethanol is set for Sunday, August 3, and will be televised on USA Network with coverage beginning at 3:30 PM ET. The Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will provide the radio broadcast of the 350-lap race around the 0.875-mile oval.

In addition to the new left and right side tire compounds that will be used by NASCAR Cup Series teams this weekend in Iowa, the NASCAR Xfinity Series teams will also utilize a new right-side tire compound at Iowa Speedway.

The new right-side Goodyear racing tire (tire code: D-6134) to be utilized by NASCAR Xfinity Series teams this weekend was previously tested by Christian Eckes (Chevrolet) and Dean Thompson (Toyota) at the June Goodyear Tire test.

The left-side tire (tire code: D-6106) that NASCAR Xfinity Series teams will use this weekend will be the same left-side tire that they utilized at Dover Motor Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway over the last two weekends.

NASCAR Xfinity Series teams will have six sets of tires in their full weekend allotment. Four brand new sets will be allowed for Saturday’s race, while one set will be scuffed in qualifying and can be used in Saturday’s race, and one set will be used in practice.

Teams will have a total of three wet-weather tire sets for Saturday’s race, if needed.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series HyVee Perks 250 at Iowa Speedway will take place on Saturday, August 2. That race will be televised on The CW with coverage beginning at 4:30 PM ET. The Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will provide the radio broadcast of the event.
