Fans in the Northeast finally have their chance to shut the TV off, and head to a racetrack to hear some thunderous NASCAR engines in action when the series visits Dover in May.

Thanks to approval from state public health officials, Dover has confirmed that fans will be allowed to attend the NASCAR tripleheader weekend from May 14 – 16.

“We appreciate the confidence the state has displayed in our team to be allowed fans in our grandstands and on our property in May for these outdoor events,” said Mike Tatoian, Dover International Speedway’s president and CEO. “While hosting the most loyal fans in NASCAR public safety remains our top priority and we’ll be communicating specific tips and requirements to fans before and during our May 14-16 NASCAR weekend.”

Dover will accommodate guests who have already purchased tickets for the weekend. However, due to reassigning seating for social distancing, Dover is freezing ticket sales for the Drydene 400 until further notice. Fans are to receive an attendance decision form to declare their plans for the May weekend. The form must be completed by April 25th.

Other procedures for the race weekend will include the use of digital tickets for all grandstand seating, required face coverings, staggered entrance times for grandstand seating, enhanced cleaning measures, and added hand sanitizer stations.

Fans will not be allowed in the infield due to the pandemic, only NASCAR teams, personnel, and select media members will be allowed into the infield.
