Danny Stockman Jr., who has championships as a crew chief in the NASCAR Xfinity and Gander Outdoors Series, will be stepping down from his current role as crew chief of the No. 3 car in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series at the conclusion of the 2019 season.

Richard Childress Racing made the announcement via a Twitter release on Monday.

According to the release, Justin Alexander — who was crew chief for the No. 3 team in 2017 and 2018 and guided Dillon to his two Cup Series victories — will assume the duties again for the No. 3 team in 2020.

Stockman has 47 starts to his record in Cup Series competition — 35 with Dillon and 12 with Paul Menard — and he has struggled to find the results he enjoyed at the lower levels. Stockman’s led teams have only recorded six top-10 finishes to date.

Dillon sits a disappointing 23rd in the 2019 championship standings after making it into the Playoffs in each of the past three seasons.

This is the first full season of Stockman and Dillon working together at the Cup level. Dillon was the driver for Stockman when he won his titles in NXS and NGOTS competition.
