On Wednesday, Daniil Kvyat – a three-time podium finisher in Formula One – got the opportunity to test a Late Model around Hickory Motor Speedway with Reaume Brothers Racing.

The on-track experience in Wednesday’s testing session marked the first laps for the 28-year-old on an oval, after competing full-time on the Formula One circuit from 2014 to 2020.

Reaume Brothers Racing – who has fielded entries in all three of NASCAR’s National Series in 2022 — worked with Kvyat throughout the day, as the 28-year-old attempts to prepare for an arrival on the NASCAR season with the team’s sister organization Team Hezeberg.

The Ufa, Russia-native told FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass at Road America in early July that he was looking to compete in one of the road course events in the NASCAR Cup Series for Team Hezeberg this season, although the date of his debut has yet to be announced.

The organization documented the testing session with Kvyat on the team’s YouTube channel.

According to the organization, Kvyat’s times continued to improve throughout the day, jumping from a 17.45-seconds lap on his first on-track run, to a 16.54-second lap on his second run, an improvement of nine-tenths of a second.

“So far, it’s been a very successful test,” said Teddy Brown, crew chief for the team’s NCWTS operation. “The guy gives great feedback, he understands the corners, he understands the braking, I think he’s going to have a successful career here.

On Thursday, Kvyat documented his first test session at Hickory Motor Speedway on social media with three thumbs up.
