As it has been for a number of years, precipitation is once again wreaking havoc on Daytona International Speedway, forcing the cancellation of qualifying for Saturday’s NASCAR Cup Series Coke Zero Sugar 400.

Per the NASCAR Cup Series Rulebook, the starting lineup for the 160-lap regular-season finale will be set by using the performance metric – the same metric used to determine the order for qualifying.

After taking a highly-discussed victory at Watkins Glen on Sunday, Kyle Larson will start his No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro from the first position, alongside Chase Elliott – the driver he pushed wide to make the pass for the win.

Joey Logano will start the race from third, with Daniel Suarez and Christopher Bell completing the top-five starting positions. Tyler Reddick, Kevin Harvick, Chris Buescher, Michael McDowell, and Alex Bowman will complete the top-10.

After Kurt Busch withdrew from contention for the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, both Martin Truex Jr. and Ryan Blaney are comfortably in the post-season, provided Saturday’s race doesn’t produce a first-time winner.

While Truex and Blaney start 13th and 16th, respectively, winless drivers will be starting in eighth (Buescher), ninth (McDowell), 11th (Chastain), and 15th (Custer).

The 2022 Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway will take place on Saturday, August 27, at 7:30 PM / ET, with coverage live on NBC.
