Corey LaJoie has inked a multi-year contract extension with Spire Motorsports, which will see him remain the driver of the No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Cup Series for the foreseeable future.

Spire Motorsports and Corey LaJoie have reached a multi-year contract extension with Corey LaJoie, which will see the 31-year-old driver return to the organization to pilot the No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in the NASCAR Cup Series.

The Concord, North Carolina native announced the news on his podcast ‘Stacking Pennies’.

LaJoie, a third-generation driver whose father and grandfather are both members of the New England Auto Racing Hall of Fame, has progressed through the ranks via success in top developmental series like the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, ARCA Menards Series, and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

“Corey LaJoie took a chance on Spire Motorsports before we had any tools, any cars, or even a race shop,” said Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson. “He is part of the fabric of this race team so it’s hard to put into words what his commitment means to TJ [Puchyr] and I.”

“He made a very thoughtful and deliberate decision to return to Spire Motorsports,” Dickerson continued. “He had plenty of other opportunities and chose to stay the course. We’re excited that Corey will continue to anchor this team and we’re ready to keep making meaningful progress every time we unload.”

LaJoie has been a cornerstone for Spire Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series, becoming the organization’s first full-time driver upon agreeing to pilot the No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro for the 2021 season.

A seven-year veteran of the NASCAR Cup Series, LaJoie has recorded a pair of top-five finishes in his career, scoring fifth and fourth-place results in back-to-back years at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

“When Jeff, TJ, and I sat at the conference table three years ago, with a whiteboard and vision to build a competitive race team, I was excited for the challenge,” said Corey LaJoie. “Since that meeting, I’ve grown, matured, and developed my skills and will continue to improve myself and my extended family at Spire Motorsports for years to come. We will continue stacking pennies and deliver for our great partners on and off the track. We’re even more eager to bring our loyal fans on this journey with us.”

The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season has been a breakout season for LaJoie and Spire Motorsports, with both parties currently on track to score their best-ever points finish in the NASCAR Cup Series, currently sitting 27th on the season with 14 races remaining.
