Corey LaJoie Recreates Iconic Alan Kulwicki Photo

This past season, Leavine Family Racing sold their Charter and assets (including their team shop) to Spire Motorsports. For 2021, Spire Motorsports will turn that second Chartered car into the No. 7 entry with Corey LaJoie driving.

The shop is an iconic one. Long before the shop housed Leavine Family Racing, it was the home of Alan Kulwicki’s race team. Kulwicki won the 1992 NASCAR Cup Series championship but was never able to defend his title as he died in a plane crash in 1993.

Kulwicki, like LaJoie in 2021, drove car No. 7.

So, the No. 7 car is back at the old No. 7 team shop for 2021. Being a person who appreciates and understands the history of the sport, it appears LaJoie, or someone at Spire Motorsports, decided to do a modern take on an iconic old Alan Kulwicki photo, from 30 years ago, that you’ve probably seen before. And it turned out amazing.

LaJoie went all out. He had the sport coat, the tie and even the briefcase. What a really cool nod to one of the true underdogs turned champion in NASCAR’s past.
