After a vicious crash in Sunday’s AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, Cody Ware has been cleared to compete in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Ware suffered a massive head-on collision with the outside wall in Turn 4 at Texas Motor Speedway, before his Nurtec ODT entry skidded out of control and made significant contact with the pit road wall.

On Tuesday, Ware spoke to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, where he elaborated that he wasn’t dealing with a ton of pain, but was going to be doing some physical therapy, saying he was “more or less dealing with some stretched ligaments and just a ton of bruising and swelling in [his] foot and ankle.”

When speaking with Danielle Trotta and Larry McReynolds on Tuesday, Ware said he would be receiving the final approval to race at Talladega later that day, and that he felt confident that he’d be cleared to compete.

The NASCAR Cup Series event at Talladega serves as another opportunity race for Cody Ware and Rick Ware Racing, as the 26-year-old earned a career-best finish at Daytona International Speedway in August, finishing sixth.
