Here is some great news: long-time NASCAR competitor Buddy Arrington has been cleared to return to his home on Monday following a lengthy hospital stay after a double heart attack that was suffered on December 15th.

The news was spread through a Tweet from Johnny Dickson, who has been updating the NASCAR community on Arrington’s condition.

There had been hope that Arrington, 81, would return to home before Christmas following double bypass surgery, but complications caused by his heart medication caused Arrington to need more time at the hospital.

Arrington, a Virginia native, was a mainstay in the NASCAR Cup Series for years. Over a 25-year career, Arrington competed in 560 events in NASCAR’s top division. He scored 15 top-five finishes, including a career best third twice. Arrington also had 105 top-10 finishes in his career and was seventh in the overall championship standings in 1982.
