Early Monday morning, President Donald Trump fired off a Tweet asking if Bubba Wallace has issued an apology to the drivers and officials who stood by him in the aftermath of the noose incident at Talladega Superspeedway last month.

The tweet has drawn much criticism on twitter and has compelled Richard Petty Motorsports majority owner Andrew Murstein to release a statement, where he calls the tweet from President Trump, “Misinformed.”

“I find it hard to believe that the President would send out such a misinformed Tweet. Perhaps one of his staff did it without his knowledge or he doesn’t know the facts. After all of the information has come out regarding the noose incident, such a late, misinformed, and factually incorrect statement seems completely unwarranted, especially after the photo came out. I could of course go on and on, but a picture is worth a thousand words. Bubba has reacted in a truthful, professional, level headed and positive manner. The NASCAR community, and those in the know all stand by him.”

President Trump of course served as the Grand Marshal for the season-opening Daytona 500, and his campaign had been featured on several race vehicles throughout the 2020 NASCAR season through sponsorship agreements with several PACs.

Sunday at Indianapolis, the Trump 2020 campaign adorned Corey LaJoie’s No. 32 car and finished next to last after a massive crash on pit road in the early portion of the event.
