Austin Cindric Returning to NASCAR Cup Series at Richmond Raceway

2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion Austin Cindric will return to the NASCAR Cup Series for his third career start, in next Sunday’s Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway, Team Penske announced on Monday Afternoon.

Cindric will pilot the No. 33 Verizon 5G Ford Mustang in the series’ ninth event of the season, while the NASCAR Xfinity Series – the series that Cindric runs for points in — takes a weekend off, before heading to Talladega Superspeedway at the end of April.

In hopes of ending his tenure in the NASCAR Xfinity Series as a two-time back-to-back champion, Cindric has notched five top-five finishes in the first six races of the season, including wins at Daytona at Phoenix.

Announced in October, Cindric will graduate to the NASCAR Cup Series full-time in 2022, driving the No. 21 Ford Mustang for Wood Brothers Racing. In his first two starts in the Cup Series, Cindric has picked up a pair of top-25 results, including a career-best 15th in the 63rd Annual Daytona 500.

The 2021 Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway will take place on Sunday, April 18th at 3:00PM / EST and will be broadcasted live on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Ch. 90)
