Aric Almirola Fastest in Opening NASCAR Cup Series Practice at Las Vegas

Aric Almirola paced the opening practice session for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Almirola turned a lap of 178.654 mph (30.226 seconds).

The driver of the No. 10 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford Mustang narrowly edged out his teammate’s No. 14. Clint Bowyer was just 0.046 sec. behind Almirola’s quick-lap.

Ty Dillon was the surprise of the session as he knocked down the third-fastest lap and was less than a tenth-of-a-second off Almirola’s pace.

Joey Logano and Alex Bowman rounded out the five fastest in the session.
