Anthony Alfredo has had an impressive start to the season with BJ McLeod Motorsports in the team’s No. 78 entry in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this season, and the 23-year-old is being rewarded with two NASCAR Cup Series starts with Live Fast Motorsports.

On Thursday, Live Fast Motorsports announced the addition of Alfredo to its driver roster beginning with the April 2nd Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway.

“Anthony’s drive and determination is something we’ve seen stand out on our Xfinity team,” said Co-owner of BJMM, B.J. McLeod. “We are excited to give him the opportunity to compete at the Cup level again and gain some experience in the Next Gen car.”

Likewise, Alfredo is chomping at the bit for a chance to pilot a Next Gen car in the NASCAR Cup Series.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to drive the No. 78 Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Cup Series at Richmond. It is a huge opportunity for me to get experience in the Next Gen car,” Alfredo said. “We have already made major strides with the Xfinity program and I am excited to take that momentum to the cup side. It wouldn’t be possible without all the great people at Live Fast, as well as our partners and supporters.”

The announcement from Live Fast Motorsports did not state which additional race Alfredo would pilot the No. 78 Chevrolet Camaro in after Richmond or the primary sponsorship partner for the effort. Those details will be announced at a later date.

In the opening three races of the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, Alfredo has yet to finish outside the top-25 for BJ McLeod Motorsports. And the native of Ridgefield, CT has scored back-to-back top-20s heading into this weekend’s race at Phoenix Raceway.

It’s the first time, since JJ Yeley achieved the feat during the 2021 season, that a BJMM driver has scored top-20 finishes in back-to-back NASCAR Xfinity Series events.

Alfredo ran the full 2021 NASCAR Cup Series schedule driving for Front Row Motorsports. In that season, Alfredo ranked 30th in the NASCAR Cup Series championship standings and recorded a best finish of 10th at Talladega Superspeedway.
