Keselowski’s Car Passed Inspection, Officially on Pole; Bubba Wallace, JJ Yeley Fail

Brad Keselowski’s pole-winning No. 2 Discount Tire Ford Mustang has passed post-qualifying/pre-race inspection and he is officially the pole sitter for Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond Raceway.

This marks Keselowski’s third pole of 2019. All three poles have come over the last nine races.

Keselowski has now accumulated 17 pole positions in his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career.

The rest of the field is still going through inspection, but we will update this article as the inspection process continues.


UPDATE 2:18 PM ET

The entire first three rows have passed inspection, so the top-six spots are now official.

3. Chase Elliott
4. Kyle Busch
5. Clint Bowyer
6. Denny Hamlin

More inspection updates will come as they become available.


UPDATE 2:53 PM ET

The top-16 qualified drivers have all made it through inspection clean. Nobody has failed pre-qualifying tech to this point.


UPDATE 3:10 PM ET

The top-21 qualifies teams have all passed pre-race tech and will roll from the grid in their assigned starting spots.

To this point, nobody has failed inspection.


UPDATE 3:20 PM ET

The top-28 qualified drivers (including all 16 Playoff drivers) have passed inspection and will start from their earned starting positions in Saturday’s Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond.


UPDATE 3:35 PM ET

JJ Yeley’s No. 52 Rick Ware Racing machine will move to the rear of the field for tonight’s race as they have failed inspection.

The 52 team was set to start from 33rd spot today.

Yeley’s car is the only one inside the top-33 that has failed. Just a few cars left to take a trip through.


UPDATE 3:51 PM ET

Despite reports that they had passed inspection, the No. 43 of Bubba Wallace, which were slated to start from the 30th position have actually failed inspection and will start Saturday night’s race from the rear.


UPDATE 4:10 PM ET

Inspection has been completed. Bubba Wallace’s No. 43 and JJ Yeley’s No. 52 were the only two cars that failed.

UPDATE 4:26 PM ET

Both the No. 43 (driven by Bubba Wallace) and the No. 52 (driven by JJ Yeley) passed inspection on their second trip through the inspection bays, which means they will not lose a crew member or incur any additional penalties other than dropping to the rear of the field.
