Patrick Staropoli is set to expand his racing schedule for the 2025 season, joining forces with Cook Racing Technologies for a part-time campaign in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series.

The 35-year-old retina surgeon will be making his debut for the organization in Friday’s NASCAR Truck Series event at Martinsville Speedway, where he’ll pilot the No. 84 Syfovre (pegcetacoplan injection).

Staropoli’s first ARCA Menards Series start of the season with Cook Racing Technologies will take place at Kansas Speedway on May 9, where he will pilot the No. 17 Toyota Camry.

Staropoli is a graduate of Harvard University and a full-time retina surgeon by day, and a second-generation race car driver. In 2013, the Houston-based surgeon earned national recognition by winning the PEAK Stock Car Dream Challenge.

The Plantation, Florida-native has beat out some of NASCAR’s top drivers to earn a spot in the ARCA Menards Series West, using that opportunity to win the 2014 NAPA Auto Parts 150 at Irwindale Speedway.

“Competing at the upper levels of stock car racing has always been a dream of mine, and I’m so honored to be able to combine my passion for medicine and motorsports,” said Staropoli. “I’m looking forward to working with Bruce’s team throughout the season, and I can’t wait to kick it off at one of NASCAR’s most popular short tracks.”

Staropoli returned to competition in the ARCA Menards Series earlier this season at Phoenix Raceway, finishing eighth in the first of five events that he will contest for Venturini Motorsports in 2025.

On March 19, Staropoli confirmed that he would be running a partial schedule in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, as well, getting behind the wheel of the No. 24 Toyota GR Supra for Sam Hunt Racing, beginning at Martinsville.

Staropoli will be getting lots of experience around the half-mile paperclip of Martinsville Speedway, competing in Friday’s NASCAR Truck Series event and Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event.

“I look forward to working with Patrick on and off the track,” said Bruce Cook, owner and crew chief at Cook Racing Technologies. “He’s a great guy with a natural ability to race, and his determination fits right in with our program. We’re thankful for the opportunity to work with him and the Syfovre team this season.”

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Martinsville Speedway will take place on Friday, March 28 at 7:30 PM ET. Coverage of the event will be on FS1, NASCAR Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
