Well, how about that for unpredictable? Dale Earnhardt Jr. scored a podium finish in his first-ever virtual IndyCar Challenge start on iRacing as he finished third in Saturday’s event at Michigan International Speedway.

It was a wild race, which featured a pileup before the race even got underway. But in the end, Earnhardt played the strategy game to put himself in position for a top finish.

Simon Pagenaud won the race followed by his Team Penske teammate Scott McLaughlin and Earnhardt was third. All three utilized a fuel strategy that put them at the front running on fumes.

This is the third-ever virtual IndyCar Challenge and it marks Pagenaud’s first win in the series. McLaughlin won the race a week ago.
