It’s not a good look when the track conditions in a race have an impact on the battle for the championship and that’s exactly what happened in Sunday’s ARCA Menards Series event at DuQuoin State Fairgrounds, when Corey Heim hit a huge rut in the second corner and sent his No. 20 Toyota Camry skyward.

The damage to Heim’s Toyota was significant and would likely have a major impact on the already dwindling hopes of the No. 20 team capturing the 2021 ARCA Menards Series championship over Ty Gibbs, who has had a dominant season to date.

Heim isn’t the first victim of poor track conditions, with both Kelly Kovski and Jesse Love destroying cars with race-winning speed before the race even began. Throughout the event, many cars have suffered damage as a result of track conditions, including Landen Lewis, Ty Gibbs, and Ryan Unzicker, who are all inside the top-five.
