The ARCA Menards Series campaign has gotten off to a difficult start, after a deluge of rain hit the Daytona International Speedway on Thursday afternoon, forcing the cancellation of all on-track sessions, with the exception of the Duels for the NASCAR Cup Series.

According to the ARCA Menards Series Rule Book, if no practice session has taken place before the designated start time of qualifying, then the starting grid will be determined by Owner Points. With it being the opening race of the season, the grid was determined on 2024 Owner Points.

William Sawalich, driving the No. 18 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing, will start on the pole for Saturday’s 200-mile contest at Daytona International Speedway. Lawless Alan, who will compete full-time in the ARCA Menards Series for Venturini Motorsports in 2025, will start on the outside of the front row on Saturday.

Lavar Scott, Isabella Robusto, and Brenden Queen will round out the top five starters. Jake Finch, Thad Moffitt, Kole Raz, Katherine Legge, and Cody Dennison will round out the top-10.

With a total of 45 entrants for the season-opener, five teams were forced to pack their stuff up and head back to the shop to tackle the next race on the ARCA Menards Series calendar.

Steve Lewis, Jr. (#62), Ryan Huff (#36), Chuck Buchanan, Jr. (#87), Chase Pinsonneault (#15), and Bob Martin (#52) are the five drivers who have failed to qualify for Saturday’s Ride the ‘Dente 200 at Daytona International Speedway.

A representative from ARCA tells TobyChristie.com that one unnamed organization that failed to qualify attempted to “buy” their way into the field but was unsuccessful in doing so.

According to ARCA rules, only the first driver outside of the field is eligible to “buy” their spot into the field, anybody further back than that would need to have the others who failed to qualify to withdraw, as well as somebody who made the field.
