Well, this is a cool story. According to and interview with PoconoRecord.com, Pocono Raceway’s CEO Nick Igdalsky will get behind the wheel of an ARCA Menards Series race car and compete in Friday’s event at the Daytona International Speedway Road Course.

Igdalsky will run the No. 12 machine for team owner Andy Hillenburg.

“Any time you get an opportunity to run at Daytona, that’s hallowed ground whether it’s the road course or the oval in my opinion,” Igdalsky said in a Monday phone interview with PoconoRecord.com. “So it’s a race that I became really, really interested in and put some feelers out and found a reasonable offer and found a sponsor to jump on board real quick. Next thing I know, I’m updating all my safety gear so I can enter and be compliant.”

The report also states that Igdalsky had actually planned to return to racing back at Pocono in June, but with the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, he opted to cancel that start.

The 42-year old, who is the grandson of Drs. Rose and Joseph Mattioli, does have previous racing experience. In fact, he ran a total of 31 ARCA Menards Series races between 2009 and 2015 with a best finish of sixth coming at his family’s Pocono Raceway in 2014.

Igdalsky has also run around the Daytona Road Course in the Grand-Am Series in the past as well.
