Jake Drew wins his third straight ARCA Menards Series West race at Irwindale. Screen grab from FloRacing

It’s becoming a regular thing at this point, right?

Just a year ago, Jake Drew had never won in the ARCA Menards Series West and now fast forward to July 2022 and the young Sunrise Ford Racing driver has three wins in a row.

It was once again a dominant outing for Drew – but not easy as the last two – as yellow after yellow seemed to deter him from coasting away to a simple win.

Drew held off a hungry Bill McAnally Racing driver in Cole Moore on a overtime restart to get the job done, powering through on the outside lane as he had most of the night.

Saturday night’s race at Irwindale didn’t shy away from any destruction however, with one of the biggest wrecks we’ve seen all season taking place with 30 to go.

Nick Joanides, Christian Rose, and Takuma Koga were all involved in the massive crash in turns three and four. The red flag was displayed before getting back to racing shortly after.

Another three car incident involving Todd Souza, Eric Rhead, and Joey Iest ensued with just four to go, leading to the final restart of the race and another victory for the driver of the No. 6.

Moore brought his No. 99 home in the runner-up spot, while also jumping into the second position in points. Still, a 43 point gap seperates Moore and Drew.

Trevor Huddleston – driving for High Point Racing – finished in third, even after giving up track position 25 laps earlier to come to pit road.

Kyle Keller, after an absence from the series finished fourth, while Landen Lewis completed his BMR debut with a fifth place result.

Jake Finch, Tanner Reif, Sebastian Arias, Amber Slagle, and Souza rounded out the top-ten finishers.

August 20th marks the date of the next event for the West Series, over a month away at the Evergreen Speedway.
