Greg Van Alst, a full-time competitor in the ARCA Menards Series, will make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut with Alpha Prime Racing later this Summer at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the team confirmed on Saturday.

The organization confirmed the news following the ARCA Menards Series event at Talladega Superspeedway, after Jamie Little, the series’ play-by-play announcer, reported that Van Alst would be joining the organization in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this year.

Van Alst, 41, captured his first victory in the ARCA Menards Series earlier this year at Daytona International Speedway, making a last-lap pass on Jason White to score an emotional victory for his family-owned team.

The organization failed to confirm which entry Van Alst would be driving for the July 8 event at the newly-reconfigured Atlanta Motor Speedway, which now closely resembles the racing on a superspeedway.

In 33 ARCA Menards Series starts, the Anderson, Indiana native has recorded three top-five and 16 top-10 finishes, finishing fifth-place in points in his inaugural full-time campaign in the division, driving for himself.

After three races, Van Alst currently sits in third place in the ARCA Menards Series point standings, after a disappointing effort at Talladega Superspeedway, where his No. 35 Chevrolet crashed and finished 32nd.

In points, Van Alst sits behind two drivers making their first runs at the ARCA Menards Series title, Frankie Muniz and Jesse Love, but remains within striking distance of the points lead.
