Layne Riggs, who has impressed in part-time schedules in the NASCAR National Series over the last couple of seasons, will be moving to Front Row Motorsports full-time for the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.
Riggs’ deal with Front Row is described as a multiyear agreement, and he will be the successor to Zane Smith in the No. 38 Ford F-150.
“I’m really thankful for this opportunity to compete full-time in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series with one of the best teams in the sport,” said Riggs. “I’ve dedicated my life for an opportunity like this, and I’m incredibly appreciative of Bob (Jenkins) and everyone at Front Row for providing me the opportunity to take my next step in my racing career.”
The team feels Riggs has the potential to form into one of the biggest talents in the sport.
“I really appreciate Layne’s dedication to his education while also competing at the highest levels,” Bob Jenkins, Owner, FRM said. “That comes from great parenting and a sense of dedication from Layne. We’ve already seen a lot of potential in Layne and he’s a perfect fit for our program to develop him into a national series NASCAR winner.”
According to a press release from the race team, Dylan Cappello will be elevated from lead engineer to crew chief for the No. 38 team in 2024. Chris Lawson, the longtime crew chief of the No. 38 truck, will step down from his role and will take on a consultant role for the team as he works on other projects outside of the sport.
Sponsorship partners for the No. 38 Ford F-150 will be announced leading into the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway.
The 21-year-old Riggs has one top-five finish and two top-10 finishes in six-career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts. Now, he’ll get the opportunity to show what he can do in a full-time capacity with one of the best teams in the series.
Hailing from Bahama, North Carolina, Riggs is a six-time race winner in CARS Late Model Stock Tour competition, and he was the youngest-ever NASCAR Advance Auto Weekly Racing Series National Champion at the age of 20 in 2022.
