INDIANAPOLIS — Takuma Sato paced the Indianapolis 500 field on Carb Day, the final practice before the 107th running of The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

The two-time Indianapolis 500 winner turned a fastest lap of 227.855 mph around the two-and-a-half mile oval. Second fastest was Scott Dixon at 227.285 mph. Will Power was third fastest ahead of Alex Palou and Kyle Kirkwood.

The two-hour session did not have any wall contact but there were a few yellow flags that interrupted track time. Katherine Legge had a left rear wheel failure that forced the only woman in the field to stop her No.44 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda on the backstretch to prevent the car getting more damaged.

There was another yellow for Devlin DeFrancesco having a flat right front tire. Several cars passed the Canadian heading to Turn 1 during the session. Shortly thereafter, the right front tire suddenly lost air pressure and deflated.

DeFrancesco kept the No. 29 Andretti Autosport Honda off the wall, bringing the car to pit road with minimal damage.

Attention now turns toward Sunday. The 107th Indianapolis 500 will air live Sunday on NBC starting at 11:00 a.m. ET with the green flag at 12:45 p.m. ET.
