Jonathan Davenport, a prominent dirt racer known as Superman, will pilot the No. 13 Kaulig Racing entry in the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The race team made the announcement in the form of a video shared to Twitter on Thursday:

The No. 13 Chevrolet Camaro will have sponsorship from Nutrien Ag Solutions for the event.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this pairing with Jonathan Davenport and Kaulig Racing to represent Nutrien Ag Solutions,” said David Elser, Senior Vice President of Retail North America at Nutrien Ag Solutions. “He connects well with the grass roots racing family and our growers. We are excited to see him represent our brand and share this experience with our dirt racing fanbase for this special weekend of racing. We look forward to cheering him and the team on all weekend along with our partner AJ Allmendinger.”

Kaulig Racing team president Chris Rice is elated to have Davenport driving a Chevrolet Camaro for the race team.

“Jonathan Davenport is an all time favorite of mine because of how well he has done in his dirt racing career,” Rice said in a team release. “I’m super excited to have his side of dirt racing intermix with NASCAR and see what he can do in one of our Kaulig Racing Chevrolets. He’s a great guy, a great racer and we’re looking forward to making our relationship with Nutrien Ag Solutions deeper.”

Davenport, a native of Georgia, attempted but failed to make the show in the 2013 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway. The NASCAR Cup Series Dirt Race will mark Davenport’s NASCAR National Series debut.

For the renowned dirt racing expert, this is a dream come true.

“This is literally a dream come true for me. I’ll get to race against the best race car drivers in the world and will get to do it at one of my favorite tracks (Bristol Motor Speedway),” Davenport said. “I have a lot to learn but have two great teammates in AJ (Allmendinger) and Justin (Haley) to learn from. We started working on this last October during the ROVAL weekend in Charlotte and to see it come to fruition is absolutely amazing.”

Davenport has been racing professionally since 1991 and captured the 2015, 2018 and 2019 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship. Davenport was also the 2022 Eldora Million winner.

The 39-year-old competed in more than 80 dirt track events in 2022.
