Ryan Blaney had a great race in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series South Point 400 at Las Vegas, but he crashed from second place with 40 laps left in the race. Screen grab from NBC race broadcast.

Holy Playoff implications, folks. Ryan Blaney, who is still in search of his first win of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season, was running in the second position in Sunday’s South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway when it all came undone.

Blaney skidded into the outside wall in Turn 2 and then spun out of control into the inside wall.

Here is the video of Blaney’s crash:

As he was getting back to pit road, Blaney radioed to his team that something had broken on his car, and the team got to work on repairing a broken right-front toe link when he arrived into his pit stall.

Blaney went from potentially winning the race, and securing his place in the Championship 4 field, to dropping below the Playoff cutline.
