Alex Palou, the 2021 NTT IndyCar Series champion, will return to Chip Ganassi Racing for the 2023 season, as the organization announced on Tuesday that they have exercised their option to extend Palou’s contract.

For team owner Chip Ganassi, signing Palou, a proven commodity, for the 2023 season was very important.

“Alex’s track record speaks for itself,” said Ganassi in a press release. “He’s a proven champion and one of the most formidable drivers in the world. We are very excited to continue working together.”

Palou, 25, shares the excitement in returning to CGR for the 2023 season.

“It’s a great feeling knowing I’ll be back with Chip Ganassi Racing next season,” said Palou. “The team welcomed me with open arms from day one, and I’m excited to continue working with Chip, Mike Hull, the folks on the No. 10 NTT DATA car and everyone within the organization. The goals remain the same and we will continue to work relentlessly towards achieving them.”

Through nine races in the 2022 IndyCar season, Palou has recorded four podium finishes and he is ranked fourth in the championship standings. With his 2023 plans set, the Spaniard can now focus on getting himself back to victory lane, a place he visited three times in 2021.

Palou, the Chip Ganassi Racing team and the NTT IndyCar Series will travel North and go across the border to battle in the Hondy Indy Toronto. The race will take place on Sunday, July 17th and will be broadcast on Peacock at 3:00 PM ET.
