The positive momentum of Corey Heim’s rookie season continues as he will start on pole for Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Track conditions were treacherous in the session as it poured right before the start of qualifying, which led to many spins throughout Round 1. The 20-year-old Kyle Busch Motorsports driver found the grip and captured the pole position for the second time in his career, posting a lap time of 117.50 sec. (69.181 mph).

Parker Kligerman will start alongside on the front-row and was 0.532 sec. behind Heim’s time. Slotted in third was the No. 42 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado of Carson Hocevar who clocked in a lap 0.914 sec. slower than the pole sitter.

Amongst the many drivers who went for a spin, John Hunter Nemechek accomplished that, but was still able to place fourth at the end of Group 1. Matt Crafton close out the top five starting positions.

Matt DiBenedetto starts sixth, Tyler Ankrum rolls off seventh and went around in Group 1 but was able to keep his No. 16 Hattori Racing Toyota Tundra unscathed. Justin Marks, Dylan Lupton and Taylor Gray round out the top 10.

Multiple spins occurred in the opening lap of the Group A a 15 minute round 1 qualifying session. Chandler Smith ended Group A’s round 1 session with the most spins (four) and his last incident put him in the gravel trap bringing out the first red flag.

Additionally, Dean Thompson had three spins and Grant Enfinger with two, Connor Mosack, Chase Purdy, Timmy Hill and Tanner Gray all had one.

In Group 2, it was a similar story. Kris Wright and Derek Kraus went for three spins apiece, two for Ben Rhodes, Tyler Ankrum and Colby Howard.

Jack Wood, Christian Eckes, Ty Majeski, Lawless Alan and Austin Wayne Self all spun once. Wright recorded three separate incidents in a single lap. Wright’s final incident of the lap ended with his No. 44 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado going hard into the frontstretch retaining wall and left major damage to the right rear.
