Mason Filippi will make his debut in the NASCAR Xfinity Series next weekend at Portland International Raceway. The 24-year old driver will have sponsorship on the No. 91 DGM Racing entry from OpenFender.com.

“There is nothing I love more than racing, and I’m excited to bring my sponsorship platform, OpenFender, to a larger audience at my first-ever NASCAR Xfinity Series race,” said Filippi in a team press release. “I’m thrilled to get behind the wheel of a Xfinity car and see what I can do on the track with DGM Racing. I’ve raced in Portland before and can’t wait to go back with a new challenge.”

Filippi is a road racing expert that has risen through the ranks of SRO and IMSA in recent years.

Like Preston Pardus, another DGM Racing driver, Filippi has past experience in Spec Miatas as he competed in the Global MX-5 Cup prior to moving to the TC America Series and Pirelli World Challenge.

DGM Racing team owner Mario Gosselin is tickled to have a driver with as prominent of a road racing background as Filippi’s behind the wheel for Portland.

“I had a great time meeting Mason and learning more about his racing career at the shop this week,” Gosselin explained. “Mason brings diverse experience and road course racing knowledge that will serve him well in the Xfinity series. I admire his approach and his attitude toward the upcoming race in Portland, and I believe it will lead to a successful weekend. We’re excited to have him behind the wheel of the No. 91.”

Filippi hails from Alamo, California. Next weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Portland International Raceway is the first NASCAR National Series event that will be contested at the 1.964-mile road course since the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series visited the track in April of 2000.
