David Starr – whose tenure across NASCAR’s top-three series spans nearly two decades — will return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2022, driving for Bobby Dotter.

Starr, 54, will bring sponsorship from Bret Baier (Special Report), EverFi, and TicketSmarter to fund his 28-race effort with the No. 08 team, and will serve as a teammate to Joe Graf Jr. throughout the majority of the 2022 season.

Jason Miller – who worked as crew chief on No. 17 in 2021 — will return to the organization to call the shots for the No. 08 Ford Mustang in 2022. Miller and Starr have worked together in the past, recording a victory in the NASCAR Truck Series at Martinsville (2005).

“I am excited to have David back as a driver. He has driven for me numerous times, but never with this quality of equipment,” Bobby Dotter said. “We are hoping to showcase his talents with the right equipment this year thanks to the support from Ford.”

As part of a manufacturer swap, SS Green Light Racing will have technical and engineering support from Stewart-Haas Racing, which will be parlayed into NASCAR Cup Series drivers Chase Briscoe and Cole Custer filling in the five races that Starr will not compete in.

“It’s awesome to be working with Bobby Dotter, Jason Miller, and the whole SS Green Light Racing crew again,” Starr said. “Bobby has been a great friend over the years and his passion for racing matches my passion for racing which is the perfect recipe for success.

“I am honored to have Fox News’ Bret Baier, EverFi Inc, TicketSmarter, and Digital Ally as our primary partners for the season. I’m humbled to represent these incredibly successful and nationally recognized brands on and off the race track,” stated Starr.

In 234 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, Starr has recorded one top-five and three top-10s, scoring a career-best fifth-place finish with BJ McLeod Motorsports in 2017.

“We’re excited for TicketSmarter to join forces with David Starr Racing as we kick off the 2022 NASCAR season,” said Stan Ross, CEO of Digital Ally, adding “This partnership allows us to expose millions of sports fans to the thousands of live events available on TicketSmarter’s platform.”

Additional details regarding the race schedules for Chase Briscoe and Cole Custer will be announced at a later date.
