There will be a new NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team that will make their debut during the 2022 season, as Cook Racing Technologies, which has fielded entries in all three divisions of the ARCA Menards Series, will run at least five NCWTS races this season.

The team is owned by long-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series crew chief Bruce Cook.

Cook spoke to TobyChristie.com via text message on Saturday evening, and he says that the team will field the No. 84 Toyota Tundra and that Clay Greenfield will be behind the wheel as the team attempts to lock into the race for the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway.

In an interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on Saturday, Greenfield stated his excitement for running a really special number with Cook Racing Technologies.

“…which is ironic, because 84 is the number I’ve used my whole life. I’ve won over 170 races with the No. 84, so, I’m super excited to be back at Daytona in a No. 84 truck and working with Bruce and all of his people,” Greenfield stated.

In the interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Greenfield revealed that his sponsor for Daytona will be Backyard Blues Pools, a Murfreesboro, Tenneessee company.

Cook says that the team will run at least five races, but that the schedule could grow as the season goes on.

“[We] Plan on running about five [races], and take it from there,” Cook said. “Could be more, hopefully.”

While the five races that the No. 84 team will run isn’t set in stone, currently, Cook says they will not be the first five races of the schedule, meaning the team will not have aspirations of a full-time run in 2022.

“Spread out a bit,” Cook said of the five races his organization plans on running.

The announcement of Cook Racing Technologies heading to Daytona, marks 32 confirmed entries for the season-opening race at Daytona, with many more expected to come in the next couple of weeks.

While many head to Daytona and secure their place into the field by purchasing owner points from others, Cook says he has no intentions of buying points and intends for his team to power their way into the field the old fashioned way.

“Many people play the buy points, switch points, etc. games,” Cook said. “We’re going with to Daytona with the gonna qualify, screw the rain threat and don’t need the points, attitude.”

For Cook, you understand why he would go into Daytona with the confidence of making the field, as he scored a second-place finish as the crew chief with Jordan Anderson at Daytona last February in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.

Cook says he will serve as the crew chief for the No. 84 team this season, and he will balance that with his schedule of serving as the crew chief for others in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series as well as running his ARCA Menards Series team in the main series, East and West series for about a total of 15 events in 2022.

The team owner says that Christian Rose, Amber Slagle, Landen Lewis and others will fill the driving roster for his team this season in the ARCA ranks.

Cook also says the No. 84 truck could provide an opportunity for some of his developmental ARCA talent to get a shot in the NASCAR National Series ranks as the year rolls on.
