Video: FRM No. 38 Spins, Barely Collects Outside Wall in Phoenix Next Gen Test

Todd Gilliland was the second victim of a single-car spin during the two-day Next Gen test at Phoenix.

Front Row Motorsports’ No. 38, which at the time was being driven by Todd Gilliland, has become the second victim of a single-car spin in a NASCAR-sanctioned two-day Next Gen test at Phoenix Raceway.

The organization’s Ford Mustang, which has seen driving duties shared between Gilliland and Michael McDowell — looped around in the middle of turns one and two, and slowly spun up into the outside wall, where it might slight contact.

The car was driven back to the garage area, without assistance from track crews.

Due to the slight contact with the wall, Gilliland was required to be checked in the infield care center. Gilliland was checked and released.

On Tuesday, on the opposite end of the track, two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch spun his No. 18 Toyota Camry TRD around in turn four, but was able to avoid any major contact with the outside wall.
