Video: Chase Elliott Spins Twice in Wednesday Next Gen Test at Phoenix

Chase Elliott Next Gen Test Spin 2022 Phoenix
Chase Elliott went for a pair of spins during Wednesday’s NASCAR Cup Series Next Gen test at Phoenix Raceway. Screengrab from NASCAR YouTube Stream.

The Next Gen car has proven to be tough to handle for drivers in the test sessions so far at various race tracks. This week at Phoenix Raceway, Kyle Busch and Todd Gilliland went for spins. Later in the day on Wednesday, 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion Chase Elliott joined Busch and Gilliland as he went for not one, but two spins.

Here is the first spin by Elliott:

Moments after returning to the track after his first spin, Elliott went around yet again. Here is video of the second spin:

Elliott locked the tires up, but in both spins, he was able to keep the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports machine off of the wall.

The difficult nature of driving the Next Gen should bring a very exciting product on track during the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Earlier in the day, Todd Gilliland damaged the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports machine in a spin:

  1. Spins are okay…..it’s testing. I’ve already commented on that, BUT, I love the #9 test car paint job That big Chevy bow tie down the side.l Looks so cool……..Gotta buy one of them….

  2. Car looks pretty light in the ass, gonna be a handful in traffic on the mid and super speedways. Can you say wreckfest?
