Colby Howard – a full-time driver for JD Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series — will make the move to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series full-time next season, piloting a brand-new second entry for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing, as the team looks to exapnd into a multi-truck operation for the first-time in the team’s history.

Over the last two years, the 19-year-old has put together some reasonable results in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, including 11 top-20 finishes in his 43 starts for JD Motorsports. Last weekend at Darlington, Howard put together a one-race deal to pilot the CR7 Motorsports No. 9 Chevrolet Silverado, finishing inside the top-15 in 13th-place, after drawing a caution flag early in the event.

“I’m really excited to be joining a team of this caliber,” Howard said. “I feel like it’s a big step in my career. I’m really looking forward to going there next year and working with Bill and all the guys – being competitive and going for wins and a championship.”

The Simpsonville, South Carolina-native comes from a racing family, with his grandfather Buddy Howard winning multiple track championships at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, while his father, Rodney Howard, competed in what is now known as the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

“We’re pleased to have Colby join our team for 2022, as we look to expand our Camping World Truck Series program,” said team co-owner Bill McAnally. “Colby comes from a racing family and brings with him an extensive racing resume. Most recently, he had an impressive run in the truck series race at Darlington last week.”

McAnally-Hilgemann Racing currently fields the No. 19 Toyota Tundra in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Derek Kraus, who has recorded a best finish of second-place in his two-season tenure with the organization.

Additional information regarding sponsorship and personnel will be made at a later date. With the team expansion, MHR is currently looking for additional crew members for next season. Qualified personnel may submit resumes to crew chief Mark Hillman at mhillman@bmrnapa.com or to McAnally at bmcanally@bmrnapa.com.
