Pre-Race Preview

Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Pinty’s Dirt Race at Bristol will be most likely the most unpredictable race of the 2021 season. Sure, the trucks have raced on dirt in recent year at Eldora, but Bristol is much faster, has much higher banking, and should be a real test to the drivers and their ability on dirt.

Obviously, Stewart Friesen has to be considered a favorite as his career is steeped in dirt experience. One of Friesen’s two-career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victories have come on dirt, as he won the 2019 Truck Series race at Eldora.

However, Friesen will have extra motivation on Saturday as he will be racing for bragging rights in his own home. That’s right, his wife Jessica Friesen will attempt to make the show as well.

Mike Marlar, JR Heffner are among the dirt specialists in the field, and both drivers will start from the pole of their respective Heat races.

Another intriguing pick to possibly win this thing is rookie contender Hailie Deegan. Deegan has won in NASCAR K&N Pro Series West competition on the dirt. While this is a much more intense field, skill wise, that experience could come into play.

There will be several NASCAR Cup Series drivers attempting to get more experience for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Dirt Race at Bristol as well.

Bubba Wallace, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr., Daniel Suarez, Kyle Larson, Chas Briscoe and Ryan Newman are the full-time NCS drivers who will attempt to make the field for this race.
