Video: Day Goes South For Blaney and Almirola After Contact Late at Homestead

Ryan Blaney and Aric Almirola were having respectable days in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

But on lap 198, things went sideways for both drivers. Aric Almirola was in the inside lane. His car got super tight in the turn, which pushed his car up the hill.

Unfortunately, Blaney was on the high side with a run and was attempting to pass Almirola. The two drivers made contact and slammed into the wall.

It’s been a sluggish start to the 2021 season for both Blaney and Almirola.

Heading into Sunday, Blaney sat 19th in the championship standings, while Almirola was 21st. Neither driver has scored a top-10 yet this season, and that streak will continue for another race.
