Joey Logano stayed on the track with old tires to win Stage 3 of Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600. The driver of the No. 22 Ford Mustang pulled the trick back out of his sleeve in Stage 1 of Thursday’s Alsco Uniforms 500 at Charlotte.

Logano came to the line to take the Stage 1 win about a second ahead of Team Penske teammate Ryan Blaney and Wood Brothers Racing’s Matt DiBenedetto.

Kevin Harvick finished fourth to make it a 1-2-3-4 finish for Ford in the Stage.

Alex Bowman was fifth and he was followed by Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Austin Dillon, Kurt Busch, Chase Elliott and Chris Buescher.

Jimmie Johnson, who started 40th after being credited with a 40th-place finish in the Coca-Cola 600 due to a disqualification, was able to move to 17th by the end of Stage 1.

William Byron, who started from the pole of the race, collided with Corey LaJoie on pit road during the competition caution at lap 20. After repairs, Byron ended the Stage in 22nd.

The Stage had a 74-minute delay for lightning and rain.
