On Friday, Larson was back behind the wheel of his winged sprint car in the World of Outlaws, and he set a new track record as he paced the track in just 9.995 seconds in qualifying at I-55 Raceway in Missouri.

Here is video of Larson’s qualifying run, which features extreme excitement from the commentator.

After his record-breaking lap, Larson would go on to finish runner-up in the main. Brad Sweet would win the event.

Larson continues to show that sponsors or no sponsors, he still has the talent to potentially someday make it back to the top of the racing ladder.
