Garrett Smithley will look to make a triumphant return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series when the series comes home to Charlotte Motor Speedway on Monday, May 25th. Smithley, the part-time driver for Rick Ware Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series, will add at least one NASCAR Xfinity Series race to his schedule for the 2020 season, when he drives for SS Greenlight Racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Dream Giveaways will sponsor the No. 07 SS Greenlight Racing Chevrolet Camaro, as well as his No. 53 Rick Ware Racing Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series on Wednesday, May 27th.

Since 2008, Dream Giveaway has raised millions of dollars for charity through its nationwide automotive giveaways. New Beginnings Children’s Homes (NBCH), the sponsor of these giveaways, is a 501(c)3 provider of family-style long-term residential care with a mission to provide foster children a safe and faith-centered family atmosphere where they can heal, grow, and be loved while working through difficult life issues. In addition to the funding they receive, when you enter to win, your donation to NBCH will also provide grants to several worthwhile charities, including Honor Flight of West Central Florida, National Guard Educational Foundation, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Bright Pink, 4KIDS, and Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries.

In a interview with Frontstretch last September, Smithley noted he was hoping to drive full-time in both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series for the 2020 season, for Rick Ware Racing and JD Motorsports. Unfortunatley, Smithley’s ride at JD Motorsports did not materialize, leaving him without a NASCAR Xfinity Series seat for 2020. Smithley was able to sign a deal to drive the majoirty of the season for Rick Ware Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series for 2020.

Smithley, will drive the SS Greenlight No. 07 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, a ride usually occupied by longtime NASCAR Xfinity Series competitor Ray Black, Jr. At this time, Monday’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway is a one-race deal for Garrett Smithley and SS Greenlight Racing, but a representitive for Smithley has indicated that they are looking to partner with SS Greenlight Racing for more races later on in the season, leaving the future of Ray Black, Jr. and SS Greenlight Racing in limbo for the time being.
