Justin Haley’s hopes of becoming the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion evaporated under high heat in the final Stage of Saturday’s Dead on Tools 250 at Martinsville.

Around lap 100, Haley developed a fire on the left rear brake of his No. 11 car.

After safety workers and his team got the fire to stay out, Haley returned to the track and then promptly pulled the car behind the wall a few laps later.

Haley did return to the track on lap 151, but he will finish very far back in the running order and his championship chances are all but over.
