Video: Matt Kenseth Wins Slinger Nationals For Eighth Time

Tuesday night, Matt Kenseth extended his own all-time record for most Slinger Nationals titles as he took his eighth victory in the 200-lap late model event at Slinger Speedway.

Despite having issues with his throttle linkage at lap four, and having to go to the rear of the field, Kenseth sliced his way back to the front with ease.

Kenseth stayed within leader Ty Majeski for the remainder of the race. The sly veteran put himself in a position to pounce with less than five laps remaining.

Going into the final turn of the race, Kenseth got alongside Majeski. Majeski ran out of room coming off of turn four, got into the wall and Kenseth cruised to victory.

It was the only lap Kenseth led in the race, but it was the only lap that mattered.

This was Kenseth’s first race since stepping out of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series last fall.

Majeski finished second, John DeAngelis came home third, Steve Apel was fourth and Alex Prunty rounded out the top-five.

Long-time NASCAR competitor and past Slinger Nationals champion Rich Bickle was sixth.

Other NASCAR notables included Daniel Hemric who finished ninth, NASCAR Next Member Derek Kraus in 13th and NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series champion Johnny Sauter in 23rd.

Here is video of the final lap that was taken by Matt Kenseth fan Tom Taubenheim that was posted on Twitter:
