The Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) Series has been making numerous driver announcements for its upcoming 2023 season. On Tuesday, the series announced a new addition; Kenny Wallace will pilot a car in the season finale at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on Thursday, August 17th.
Wallace, the younger brother of NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace, is a nine-time winner in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition. Overall, Wallace ran a total of 904 events in the NASCAR National Series ranks (Cup, Xfinity and Truck) over the course of his career.
In a press release from SRX, Wallace says he’s proud to be a part of a racing series that he has truly become a fan of.
“I’ve always been a big fan of the SRX series because it’s good for racing in every way, and now that it’s on Thursday nights, it’s even better,” said Wallace. “I am truly honored and humbled at the same time to race with these world-class drivers. When you see me at an SRX event, I will be smiling from ear to ear and giving it everything I got on and off the racetrack.”
Since he NASCAR driving days concluded, Wallace has stayed very active on the dirt racing scene in Missouri. Wallace’s passio for motorsports of all kinds has SRX Chief Executive Officer Don Hawk excited.
“I’ve known Kenny for a really long time. I like how he drives, how he rolls and the passion he brings regarding all forms of motorsports but particularly in this case as he’s been a HUGE fan of SRX since day one,” Hawk said.
The SRX Racing Series enters its third season in 2023. The season will kick off on July 13th at Stafford Motor Speedway, and the series will run for six straight weeks. For the upcoming year, the series will move to Thursday nights at 9 PM ET and will be broadcast by ESPN. Previously, SRX had run on Saturday nights on CBS.
Wallace joins a star-studded cast of part-time racers that have been announced for the 2023 SRX Racing Series. Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch, Helio Castroneves, Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick have all been announced as part-time drivers in 2023.
As far as full-time SRX drivers in 2023, Hailie Deegan, Brad Keselowski, Bobby Labonte and Ryan Newman have already announced their intention to contest the full six-race season.
