Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch is set to make his return to the iconic Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida, as he officially threw his name into the hat for the 58th edition of the prestigious super late model event.
Busch signaled his entry into the race via a social media video shared on Thursday afternoon.
It’s time to show @brextonbusch what this trophy is all about.????

Busch, 40, has captured the Tom Dawson trophy twice. The first time that the Las Vegas native scored the win in the Snowball Derby was in 2009, and he also took the victory in the 50th annual Snowball Derby in 2017.
According to a report from FloRacing, which will serve as the broadcast partner for the event, Busch will pilot the No. 51 Bryson Lopez Racing Chevrolet with primary sponsorship from Lucas Oil for the event.
Busch will have a familiar face on pit road as Danny Stockman Jr., who is fresh off winning the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship with Jesse Love, will serve as his crew chief for the race. Stockman scored three wins in five starts as the crew chief for Busch at Kyle Busch Motorsports during the 2020 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.
Stockman has amassed 23 victories combined in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts (formerly Xfinity) Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series ranks.
Busch’s attempt at the Snowball Derby this year will mark his first trip to Pensacola for the prestigious event since the 2020 season. Busch finished seventh in that edition of the event, and in five career starts in the event, Busch has just one finish outside of the top seven. Busch, who has gone winless in each of the last two NASCAR Cup Series seasons, is ready to go trophy hunting at Five Flags Speedway.
“It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Pensacola, but I haven’t forgotten how to get around Five Flags,” Busch said to FloRacing. “The Snowball Derby is one of those bucket-list races you always want to win again and again, and I’m fired up to be back with the No. 51 Lucas Oil team and FloRacing. We’re showing up to take that trophy home.”
Rich Bickle holds the all-time record for most wins in the Snowball Derby with five victories, and if he were to win the Snowball Derby this season, Busch could break a tie for the second-most all-time with a large group of drivers, who have two wins in the race, respectively.
Busch joins a growing entry list, which already contains more than 50 cars for the Snowball Derby. In addition to Busch, other notable names from the NASCAR world on the entry list, currently, include Erik Jones, Bayley Currey, Johnny Sauter, Kaden Honeycutt, Dawson Sutton, Noah Gragson, Jake Garcia, Conner Jones, Ryan Preece, Ty Majeski, and David Gilliland.
The 58th annual Snowball Derby is scheduled for Sunday, December 7, and the event will be streamed live on FloRacing.
