Keen Parts, a longtime NASCAR sponsor and local racing sponsor is jumping into the race sponsorship mix as they will be the presenting sponsor of a two-race program designed to give larger prize money to winners in the 2022 local racing ranks.
The auto parts retailer has selected the 2022 IceBreaker at Florence Motor Speedway, a NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series race on February 5th, as the first of two races in their bonus series. An additional race will be announced at a later date as the second half of Keen Parts / CorvetteParts.net program.
As a result of Keen Parts / CorvetteParts.net jumping in to support the event at Florence, the race winner will now take home $10,000 in 2022, which is up from $5,000 in last year’s event.
“We are just excited to be even a small part of this program and can’t thank the folks at Keen Parts enough for involving FMS in this. I think it could be something that will only grow in the years to come” said Florence Motor Speedway promoter Steve Zacharias in a press release.
According to the press release, Keen Parts has built an additional incentive for the winner of the 2022 IceBreaker, as that driver will be eligible for an additional bonus in the second Keen Parts event later in the season.
The bonus, like the race for which the bonus will be attached to, will be announced at a later date, but Zacharias says the second Keen Parts event will be the, “crown jewel,” of the program and will produce, “one of the largest payouts in late model stock car racing.”
“The winner of the IceBreaker not only takes home a check of $10,000 but is now eligible for a bonus that will be announced in the coming weeks if they take home the win in race two of the series,” Zacharias said. “The second race will be the crown jewel of this event and pay the winner one of the largest payouts in late model stock racing. “While our partners at Keen Parts are still in process of finalizing the second track location, we can tell you that not only will the amount to win bring the teams to the facility, but the facility itself will be worthy enough to be the prize.”
Florence Motor Speedway, a 0.400-mile short track, which has been active since 1982, has seen past IceBreaker winners such as Lee Pulliam, Timothy Peters, Ty Gibbs and Chad McCumbee.
